Work with a Life Coach at Thrive Boston to Find Greater Happiness and Success

What if you woke up tomorrow morning and, while you were sleeping, a miracle had occurred? What if, overnight, the problems that have been bothering you with your job, finances, relationships, and other personal and professional issues (we all have them) were gone. What if everything was fixed? Take a few second and think about it...

  • Where would you be when you woke up?
  • How would you feel?
  • What would your life be like?
  • What would you do first?

This is called "The Miracle Question" and it is often used to help people, just like you, determine what they want in their lives to change and decide how they really want to live.

For some of us, we get so mired in the day-to-day, so worn down by what is in front of us that we lose sight of what we really want. When this happens, the chance of actually reaching a better (more fulfilling) life decreases from “very possible, and likely” to “fat chance.”

Setting Goals For Happiness, And Achieving Them

Does the miracle question seem impossible? If so, you are not alone. Many people feel overwhelmed when they ask themselves what they really want out of life. The life coaches at Thrive Boston understand. We have found that when people begin to identify the core of specific problems in their lives and start making moderate steps in the right direction, change is within reach and can happen faster than people ever thought possible.

Thrive Boston life coaches are experts at helping their clients identify what they want, setting goals for achieving it, and then walking with them toward reaching those goals. This process sounds simple, and from 20,000 feet, it is. Of course, when people are in the midst of this process, they hit upon the roadblocks of change—possibly emotional, social, financial obstacles—the road is clear, but it is not always easy.

That’s why every life coach at Thrive Boston is also a fully licensed mental health professional (professional counselor or psychologist). We believe it takes this level of expertise and training to help clients reach their maximum potential.

The Life Coaches At Thrive Boston Are Licensed Professionals

A lot of people today are calling themselves a life coach, personal coach, relationship coach, success coach, or any number of variations on the term "coach." While there are many very good coaches in Boston and Cambridge, be aware that the designation, “coach” means very little. There is no recognized, professional licensure for life coaches. Anyone can call themselves a life coach.

Finding a coach is not hard. However, finding the right professional coach—someone who can help you set and reach your personal goals—is another matter altogether.

Thrive Boston life coaches help many individuals every year. In addition, our coaches are also fully licensed mental health professionals, many have doctoral-level degrees, and all have passed through the rigorous screening and hiring process of Thrive Boston.

Life Coaching Can Help You Grow

It is said that counseling can take people from a point of pain to a place of healing (for example, from -5 to a neutral 0), but life coaching brings people from a place of neutral to a place of success and fulfillment (from 0 to +10)!

The truth is that life experiences are not summarized well by a 0 to 10 scale. People often find success in one part of their lives, reaching between an 8 or 10, while they simultaneously experience a 0 in a different part of their lives. One of the major challenges in life is finding a healthy balance in all areas at the same time. For example, many people want to improve their careers without neglecting other parts of their lives such as their marriage or physical health.

If you are not ranking all 10s, do not worry. It is difficult to keep each area a 10 for long. Part of the reason is that as soon as people reach a 10, their perspective changes. The 10 they just achieved immediately gets downgraded to an 8—there is always something more to be done. Truth be told, part of the life coaching process is learning (and experiencing) this first hand.

The famous psychologist Erich Fromm frequently wrote about people’s potential for personal growth and how there is no limit to people’s potential for achievement. There is always more to be done. Fromm said, "Man [and woman] always dies before he is fully born." This may seem negative at first but it is a very positive thought. People never reach their maximum potential, because they can always improve.
