Life Coaching is Helping People in Cambridge and Boston Improve their Lives and Relationships
Introduction to Life Coaching
What if a miracle occurred while you were sleeping, and when you woke up the next morning you could choose to work at any career you wanted? What if you could live anywhere? What problems in your life would now be solved? What would your life be like? What is the very first thing you would do?
In Life Coaching, these are called the “Miracle Questions,” and they are used to help people who want to make changes in their lives. These questions are aimed at getting people to find out how they really want to live their lives.
Some people can get bogged down in the hustle and bustle of their careers, fulfilling the many obligations they have to their families and taking care of dozens of tasks along the way. Many people are so busy that they rarely have the chance to stop and ask themselves what they really want out of life and what makes them happy.
Reasons to Seek Life Coaching
People seek the help of Life Coaches for various reasons. The following are a few examples.
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Working on relationships
- Making career changes
- Finding a life and work balance
- Finding effective ways to be promoted or climb the ladder at a current job
- Pursuing a hobby, joining a club, becoming involved in a community project/event
- Living a dream
- Learning more about food, nutrition and health
- Getting through grief, loss and transition
- Managing anger and stress
What is a Life Coach?
Perhaps, you have always dreamed of writing short stories, taking courses at college to get a degree or climb the rungs of the ladder to a higher position at your job. You may think about these things once in a while, but then get distracted by the many responsibilities of daily life. Besides, you have no idea what steps to take to make these things happen anyway. You may doubt yourself and get caught up in the “what ifs”— What if nobody wants to read your stories? What if you fail exams and don’t get your degree? What if you don’t get promoted in your job? These questions keep you at a standstill.
Life Coaches are just like coaches for sports teams. They work with their clients to identify what they really want, help them to strategize the “moves” that will help them to get there and guide them on their way to their goals. Whether it is support to move up in a career, go back to college or find a balance in your work and life, Life Coaches are knowledgeable about the various issues that hinder people from achieving personal growth.
Life Coaches can help you reach your goals and make the change you want in your life. They work with people in the following ways.
1) Help in Identifying Goals.
You are setting out on a path to make changes in your life, and a Life Coach will help you figure out exactly what you want, as well as set up goals that are realistic and help you manage the process of achieving them.
2) Guide in Overcoming Obstacles.
Along the way to your goal, you may encounter a few things that cause you to be “stuck.” A Life Coach will work with you to get through them and move forward.
Life Coaches are there to motivate and inspire you to reach your full potential. Like sports coaches, they are there to give you that extra “push” you need in order to accomplish goals.
Life Coaches work with you to find the strategies to help you focus on what you want. Your thinking may have to be readjusted in order to achieve your goal effectively. An added bonus of Life Coaches is that, with their help, you can reach your goals a lot faster and with less effort with these strategies.
When you meet with a Life Coach, you will find that they make sure you are held accountable in reaching your goals. They are there throughout the process in order to ensure you make the changes that will positively affect your life.
Following a dream and taking the steps to get what you want may be something you are not used to doing. You might feel guilty that you are taking the time to concentrate on your dreams instead of those of your spouse, your children or somebody close to you. A Life Coach will be able to look at your goals objectively and help you to move forward.
7) Make Decisions.
When you want to sit down and write that story, sign up for classes to get a degree or move up in your career, you may need some help in making decisions. Life Coaches help you make the appropriate decisions for yourself in order to reach your goal. When you work together with a Life Coach to solve problems, it will begin to be a process that will help you with other decisions in your life.
